I had a hankering for some winter sun so booked a few days in Madeira for us at relatively short notice.
A beautiful island, with friendly people, a warmer climate than home, ended January and began February with a different experience.
The food was plentiful with seafood and fish a must. The gardens are lush, and the roads are steep.
Unfortunately the cable car was closed for maintenance so it was the hop on, hop off bus for us.
Our hotel, the Castanheiro Boutique Hotel was comfortable with everything we needed, and the Tipographie restaurant offered lots of choice.
We also enjoyed meals at Enseada, near the Naval Club, 1811 Bistro, and a little Hamburger place near the hotel.
The promenade by the port is a great place to stroll and also to pass the CR7 museum.
We would both definitely return although probably choose to go mid Feb early March.
This is trip 1 for me this year, so much more to explore, and I’m very excited about plans I have.
