Retirement one year in

Well that year flew by, although it’s not been without it’s challenges. The relief of not getting up five days a week, to meet deadlines, smoke and mirrors, pulling rabbits from hats and spinning plates, is great. I don’t regret the decision to retire, in fact it’s one of the best I’ve made. I, andContinue reading “Retirement one year in”

Seaside themes, Brighton, Buxton and Bakewell…..

We’ve had a wonderful three weeks whereby we’ve been to Southend, London, Oxford, Brighton, Dudley, Barnsley, Buxton, Bakewell, Helmsley and Thirsk. We’ve visited the seaside, the countryside, been to the theatre, watched some cricket and even been down a coal mine. Where did March and April go…..

The last eight weeks have flown by with outings with River, trips to Scotland, Bruges, Spain, Surrey and Sussex. The weather has been greatContinue reading “Where did March and April go…..”

Three weeks in to 2022

It’s been quite weird looking at things to book and places to visit, but the excitementContinue reading “Three weeks in to 2022”

Precious moments….

Since last writing, it’s been a bit hectic. There’s been little let up in two weeks: garage clearing ( although that’s stalled), Christmas decorating in the hall, snug and living space. River has been to stay and is enthralled with the lights and baubles. A great trip to Birmingham with Debbie visiting Dudley and BridgnorthContinue reading “Precious moments….”

Yay! Retired!

Yesterday was my last day at work. A weird situation, with no office, laptop, phone or computer at my disposal, but it was a good day nonetheless. The last six weeks without students and staff, have given me the time to process retirement and to reflect on my achievements during my sixteen year tenure. IContinue reading “Yay! Retired!”

January blues…..

Apparently Monday was the worst day of the year, but in an effort to be positive I ignored that and will concentrate on what is good – and there’s plenty! A busy two weeks with a goodbye to a loved one, and news of another extension to the family! We celebrated Kevin’s Nan’s life andContinue reading “January blues…..”
