I have spent the last few months (the last year really) wrestling with a decision. And the Easter break gave me the impetus to go for it, so decision made. I handed in my resignation on Monday to retire this summer. The relief was palpable and instant. I’ve been associated with the school for 22Continue reading “Exciting times ahead”

Testing times
Nearly four weeks have passed, with an easing of lockdown, and another from Monday. We have enjoyed seeing River and he is growing and changing so much. Such a happy, content wee man. We’ve been to visit another household, which was so lovely and met my sister’s new puppy, Dora. She’s a black cockerpoo andContinue reading “Testing times”
The year Marches on….
Bye bye February 2021, not one of your finest but that’s the way it goes. Although a positive both Kevin and I were vaccinated today, which provides comfort for the future. A week’s break from social media, and I’ve quite enjoyed it-I’ve lost a few ‘followers’ but again that’s the way it goes. A fewContinue reading “The year Marches on….”
Peace be with you
The first month of 2021 is almost done and there is a glimpse of light down a long, dark tunnel. It would seem we are doing well with vaccinations and the lockdown, whilst very hard, is reducing cases, hospitalisation, which will in turn reduce deaths. This is a positive worth having! All tests in schoolContinue reading “Peace be with you”
Lockdown 3
Returned to work on Monday with the staggered start extended only for a full national lockdown from this morning to be in force. Schools closed to the majority of students, but open for vulnerable or key worker children. Meanwhile schools have to be cleaned, sanitized, all normal operational tasks, difficult to do from home, stillContinue reading “Lockdown 3”
Tier 4
So Christmas is cancelled or at least minimise to one day. New restrictions, guidance and disappointment for so many. We seem to lurch from one thing to another. Perhaps as we approach a new year in 10 days time, now is the time to stay safe, and do what we can for each other. IContinue reading “Tier 4”
November… the ninth month…
As we approach the end of November and St Andrew’s Day (patron saint of my beloved Scotland) and the impending birth of our grandson (still pinching myself writing that!) I thought I’d look up what November meant. It’s from the Latin for nine, as it was the 9th month in the Roman calendar, before JanuaryContinue reading “November… the ninth month…”
Three weeks in …
Autumn has arrived although the sunshine is providing the last vestiges of summer. A return to full school has been busy trying to provide a return to normality. There’s been a new car, the loss of a much loved pet, a trip to Suffolk and the day to day hubbub of life. We had ourContinue reading “Three weeks in …”
LD 81
Another full week with work pressure ratcheting up as we prepare for our first students since March, apart from key workers. Teams meetings, summer capital projects and the day to day routines that still have to be done whilst sourcing PPE, tape, bins and so much more. The pressure is immense and hopefully after tomorrowContinue reading “LD 81”
LD 74
Another fortnight has passed by full of food, cleaning, work and so much more unfolding on the world stage……. Two weeks ago was half term , but it didn’t feel like it. So much to prepare for and do. Last week there were zoom meetings, teams meetings and even face to face meetings! Preparing forContinue reading “LD 74”
LD 39
Another week has passed, where I haven’t posted on social media as much as usual. This last week the weather hasn’t been great and it’s been harder, and I’ve been into work four out of five days, unusual and very tiring. I caught up with friends and work colleagues both virtually and in person- strangeContinue reading “LD 39”
LD 33
A busy rest of the week with two trips to work, decisions to be made and ensuring that everything just seamlessly carries on in readiness for students and staff return. My role in school is definitely a solitary one and the anxiety of missing something is profoundly felt, but I can only do what IContinue reading “LD 33”
