A weekend of cricket, sun and a Brucie Bonus!

Way back I put in to the ballot for the Lord’s test England v Pakistan and was successful for yesterday. The first two days went Pakistan’s way but we hoped to see England make a better fist of playing against the young, talented Pakistan side. Now that is as deep as I will probably be!Continue reading “A weekend of cricket, sun and a Brucie Bonus!”

Hard day’s night

What a week! I don’t feel that I have achieved very much at all. Everyday has brought a fresh challenge, some more daunting than others I’ve retreated to the garden of an evening, watching for the little changes to the shapes and colours. Changes to Data Protection come into force next Friday, and there isContinue reading “Hard day’s night”

Part 4 Kowloon

We were taken back to central and caught the ferry back to Kowloon. This is on the blue route and our final bus ride of the day. More history more shops, more skyscrapers! Back to our hotel walking to get my daily quota in!

HK part 2 Aberdeen, Stanley and Repulse Bay

The green route covers the North of the island with a good commentary of the history of HK. It seems less urbanised than the South, more of a holiday location. Again I was challenged with twists and turns but breathtaking views! As part of this route we enjoyed a Sampan ride- part 3

Honkers Shonkers Bus tour part 1

Bus trips today. First one by shuttle bus to the ferry. We arrived at central and picked up the red route. There will be 4 parts to this and hopefully the photos, whilst void of noise, hustle and bustle and smells will convey a flavour of Hong Kong! Back at central we go on theContinue reading “Honkers Shonkers Bus tour part 1”

A trip to lone pine

Today we took the bus 🚌 to travel to fig pocket lane to visit the lone pine koala sanctuary. They have a variety of koala areas where you can find them sleeping or doing their day jobs of being photographed with humans. They can only work 30 minutes a day and this is broken intoContinue reading “A trip to lone pine”

Where did last week go..

Last week was half term, although I was in school for a few days. I relish the solitude and opportunity to work uninterrupted. You achieve so much and it’s also great to take stock, tidy up my desk and do filing. Progress to finish the sixth form block is slow, but should be complete toContinue reading “Where did last week go..”

Life changes

On Sunday we drove to Bristol to our niece’s new home, to surprise Kevin’s sister on the eve of a momentous birthday. I’d been nearby, actually having lunch at the above pub earlier this year, and after a very early start we arrived before the birthday girl. Viv was suitably surprised and pleased at theContinue reading “Life changes”

Two decades and a funeral

Bev and I have known each other for over 30 years and a recent invite to accompany her to althorp was one that I had to take up. Weather was set fair and I drove to her home, and we made the journey to Northants. First stop was to visit the above, then we madeContinue reading “Two decades and a funeral”

Another year rolls by

Another Academic year ends tomorrow, with more goodbyes with the prospect of hellos in September. Changes to roles and new students about to embark on their next destination of the journey of lifelong learning. It’s been a year full of highs and lows and on Monday I return to a student free school with aContinue reading “Another year rolls by”

Dyffryn Gardens

Another day, another house and gardens, this one a National Trust property just outside Cardiff. The gardens less formal than yesterday, but a sculpture here and there. The sun shone intermittently but the moisture in the air did not dampen our enthusiasm. We stopped for the obligatory cream tea and wandered around the stalls whereContinue reading “Dyffryn Gardens”

Chippenham, Cardiff and Cricket.

Debbie and I left yesterday and travelled to Chippenham. A detour to the Swindon retail outfit resulted in English pounds being spent and a easy ride to our hotel for the evening. A walk around to find our bearings and a refreshing cider each had to be done. Before we knew it it was timeContinue reading “Chippenham, Cardiff and Cricket.”

Bank Holiday weekend

Unusually for me, there were no plans for this weekend, and as the weather was to deteriorate, a day of sunbathing was in order. But first the cloudy skies and a downpour seemed to put paid to that But the clouds diminished and the sun shone! It was so warm and lovely to enjoy beingContinue reading “Bank Holiday weekend”

Diana’s Dresses

As soon as I saw the exhibition advertised I had to go. My companion today was my wonderful ex colleague Bev!  The weather forecast was mixed, but we dodged the rain and made our way to KP. There was a queue, as would be expected and we sauntered round the King’s and Queen’s apartments beforeContinue reading “Diana’s Dresses”
