In some ways it felt just like a weekend, us all here enjoying a late breakfast. A FaceTime call from Australia and an exchange of the global impact on us all was the indicator that this was different. Three out of the five of us here logged on to the internet, which has slowed massively.Continue reading “Lockdown 2”

Draconian measures 1
So after a surreal day at work with 3 students in, the PM has introduced far more stringent measures and its lockdown: only can go out for food shopping, medical, work if critical and exercise. These will be testing times and I will look to work from home until Friday, when I’m rota’d to beContinue reading “Draconian measures 1”
It’s life, but not as we know it….
These last few weeks have been extraordinary. The daily challenges faced, the communication updates and the stark reality now of changes that may become more of the norm – I hope not though. With schools now ‘closed’, but still open for certain students, structure will need to be maintained. As we approach the end ofContinue reading “It’s life, but not as we know it….”
A sixth of the year done
Two months down in 2020 already, which means March is here and spring! We’ve had so much wind and rain this last month: I can’t imagine how those families are living with flooding or the immediate likelihood of it. Having experienced a flash flood whilst pregnant over 30 years ago, to live with that fearContinue reading “A sixth of the year done”
February half term 2020
I always enjoy working when school is closed as it is so quiet: not true this time… contractors, builders, perspective suppliers, fire alarms going off, and across the road tree surgery!!!Despite this its great to go in later and leave earlier: the mornings getting lighter and the evenings stretching out. I’ve worked on GDPR, theContinue reading “February half term 2020”
New year but no resolutions, just happiness and peace
Already ten days in for this new year and decade, and had a few ups and downs: the nature of the beast. Ruby has been spayed and hasn’t been out for 9 days. We’ve ordered our new sofa so now we have to stop the cats using the furniture as a scratching post! Back toContinue reading “New year but no resolutions, just happiness and peace”
As we await 2020 and all that can bring…
As we are about to move from this year to the next, I thought I’d just write a précis of the year. The year itself has already been well documented with the majority of the events with photos. It started as it ended with a sad loss of dear family and also the tragic lossContinue reading “As we await 2020 and all that can bring…”
Second week of advent….
Another busy week for us beginning with my annual wreath making sojourn. So therapeutic: 3 hours of creativity, convivial company and mulled wine! Had the idea of the feathers last year but couldn’t buy them in time, so I bought them in the summer to be prepared. Monday saw the lighting if the second candleContinue reading “Second week of advent….”
There’s no place like home…..
It seems longer than a week since my last post, probably because it was so eventful. There’s been a few tears, and laughter but so pleased to be home. Last Saturday Nina and I enjoyed a massage, another day at the pool relaxing, enjoying the knee popping DJ ‘s tunes and just after the setContinue reading “There’s no place like home…..”
Term 7 week 6 and 2/3 of 2019 done.
Well that’s it the summer break is over. I can’t write back to work on Monday as I’ve been in every week, not every day, but I have managed to reduce my to do list! This past week I have enjoyed wonderful weather, with fantastic company and great sport and entertainment. Last Saturday at TwickenhamContinue reading “Term 7 week 6 and 2/3 of 2019 done.”
Term 7 week 5
I already posted this, but it has now disappeared. I had an opportunity to go to Twickenham so tickets we’re duly purchased and delivered. We enjoyed a lovely afternoon with extended family on the 17th and a meal with great friends on the 18th. Monday to Thursday saw work challenges, one treating the memorial benchesContinue reading “Term 7 week 5”
2019 part 1
Six months in to 2019 and it’s been full of ups, downs, sadness and joy, with memories made. It didn’t get off to the best start, but with some fortuitous twists we were able to join up with Andrew and Lis in Italy. Totally unexpected and all the sweeter for it! We met up inContinue reading “2019 part 1”
Team building for the future
Today we held interviews in school for a new Assistant Headteacher. It was a long, tiring day but full of hope for a wonderful time ahead. Being a part of the process, hearing young professional people talking about their commitment, love and passion for their subject, student outcomes and their determination was truly inspirational. ToughContinue reading “Team building for the future”
First quarter of 2019
I can’t believe that we are three months into 2019. I’ve had two trips to Scotland, been to see some football, rugby and been to Lords for dinner. We’ve visited Brighton, Arbroath, Ripon, Harrogate, Stow on the Wold and Charlbury. We also lost our beloved Reggie, far too soon into his short but sweet life.Continue reading “First quarter of 2019”
