A different corner

It is 36 years ago to the day Kevin and I got engaged. Time has flown by! Tonight we watched ‘Freedom’ the George Michael documentary, and I feel quite sad about such a talented man who appeared to have enjoyed only fleeting glimpses of happiness in his personal life. A voice of such depth, andContinue reading “A different corner”

Recipe for success

A few days at home, a morning at work, a disturbed night, packing and we were on our way to Brighton! A detour to pick up the macaroons that on Wednesday were not ready, but thanks to colourfulbites for making the magic happen! We had a good journey and a cuppa was shared whilst workingContinue reading “Recipe for success”

Keep right on to the end of the road……

Sunday arrived and we had beautiful weather for the Scottish relatives, friends and neighbours to celebrate the diamond anniversary. Food, drink and chairs were in place. Guests arrived and laughter rang out. We spilled over into the garden and it was so good to see so many smiling faces. I read a poem by BobContinue reading “Keep right on to the end of the road……”

Shine bright like a diamond….

My sister and I travelled almost 500 miles by road yesterday to be a part of the first celebration of our parents 60th wedding anniversary. What a privilege to be able to be here, and what an achievement! We arrived after a 12 hour journey, falling exhausted into bed. An early start today and aContinue reading “Shine bright like a diamond….”

Weekend fun

A really busy weekend, a tonic after feeling rough all week. Friday included a lazy morning then lunch with Debbie at Masons. Great food, and company with the usual laughter and a good old chin wag. Just what the doctor ordered. Time with Debbie is always uplifting! Saturday was an early start up to LondonContinue reading “Weekend fun”

Life changes

On Sunday we drove to Bristol to our niece’s new home, to surprise Kevin’s sister on the eve of a momentous birthday. I’d been nearby, actually having lunch at the above pub earlier this year, and after a very early start we arrived before the birthday girl. Viv was suitably surprised and pleased at theContinue reading “Life changes”

Cricket  England v South Africa

The reason behind our trip was the cricket match today, and we awoke to get skies and drizzle.  Breakfast and getting ready took precedence and the drizzle became heavy showers 😞  As we wiped away 40 minutes a break in the clouds, and the rain stopped so we walked to Cardiff bay station. We hadContinue reading “Cricket  England v South Africa”

Making a difference.

I have been unwell over the last few days, which in no small measure, is due to my anxiety over today and the memorial mass for a much loved teacher I have sourced some fantastic pieces and met some fantastic craftsmen. The family planting the Himalayan acer The benches  by Martin Cook and his sonContinue reading “Making a difference.”

Flower of Scotland

Yesterday brought sad news, once again, that a very special teacher at school, had passed away. Tony Ward had suffered a stroke whilst on a field trip on the 21st March and spent his remaining days in hospital, surrounded by family and friends. He appeared to rally, then falter, rally and then pneumonia set in.Continue reading “Flower of Scotland”

Celebration of life

I have been dreading today as it was the day that I would say farewell to my dear friend Sian. Her mum had said that they wanted to celebrate her life and that was achieved in no small measure. The tributes began with her brother Aled recanting stories from her younger years and beyond. TheContinue reading “Celebration of life”

My friend Sian

Today brought the saddest news that my dear friend Sian had lost  her monumental battle against cancer. What can I  say, she believed she could beat this and did all she could to try. I have been in awe of her courage and the support and love that her family and friends have given. AnContinue reading “My friend Sian”

First post!

When I was a lot younger I never thought I would marry, let alone have a family, but I have been blessed with a fantastic husband Kevin, and three wonderful children Andrew, Joseph and Georgina, who have given us such a rich and varied family life. It’s been a privilege to see them grow bothContinue reading “First post!”
