A trip to Scotland

I try to visit my parents in Scotland in the summer, and this time I had some company, as Joseph came along on the trip. This was a great chance for us all to spend time together. The journey wasn’t great due to a delayed flight and having to purchase additional train tickets, but weContinue reading “A trip to Scotland”

Do you fancy an Indian?

Thursday saw Debbie and I leave Essex for a long drive to Cardiff. We arrived at our hotel, best described as functional, a bed for the next two nights. A curry was consumed before a night in a room that had air conditioning , albeit not switched on! The following morning and brunch was hadContinue reading “Do you fancy an Indian?”

Thirty years ago today

Thirty years ago today, Andrew John arrived safely into the world. A full head of black hair and a giant leap into the unknown. He has made us laugh, cry, shout, beam with pride, laugh some more and cry more tears as we have said goodbyes at the school gates, Brunel University and off toContinue reading “Thirty years ago today”

Where is this year going🤗

Can’t believe that there is less than a week left in March, and next week is Easter! Whilst I have a few things booked over the coming months, we haven’t booked a holiday and Kevin is being very reluctant about his 60th birthday celebrations🤔 So I guess I will just get something sorted! I haveContinue reading “Where is this year going🤗”

2017

This last year has been well documented by me, but I will post a few photos here too! As is the way, there has been highs (many) and lows (few), but that is life. How we cope with the lows is the important thing, with support of family and friends. Reading through my blogs forContinue reading “2017”

And back to work

Today I arrived at my desk at 7:15. My desk was remarkably uncluttered, so that was a positive. Emails, signing and seeing colleagues proved a bit of a curate’s egg. Yesterday was not good as I felt lethargic and off kilter. I have been anxious about returning to work and that is how it was manifestingContinue reading “And back to work”

Last meal at the Harbour Grill

We opted to eat in the hotel and as it was raining it was a wise decision. Food was delicious, company great and we toasted the holiday, and Colin’s upcoming big birthday next Sunday. We again found ourselves talking about our families, the joy the heartache but also immense pride! It has been awesome andContinue reading “Last meal at the Harbour Grill”

Part 4 Kowloon

We were taken back to central and caught the ferry back to Kowloon. This is on the blue route and our final bus ride of the day. More history more shops, more skyscrapers! Back to our hotel walking to get my daily quota in!

HK part 2 Aberdeen, Stanley and Repulse Bay

The green route covers the North of the island with a good commentary of the history of HK. It seems less urbanised than the South, more of a holiday location. Again I was challenged with twists and turns but breathtaking views! As part of this route we enjoyed a Sampan ride- part 3

Honkers Shonkers Bus tour part 1

Bus trips today. First one by shuttle bus to the ferry. We arrived at central and picked up the red route. There will be 4 parts to this and hopefully the photos, whilst void of noise, hustle and bustle and smells will convey a flavour of Hong Kong! Back at central we go on theContinue reading “Honkers Shonkers Bus tour part 1”

Hong Kong 🇭🇰

After a flight and fitful sleep we arrived in Hong Kong. After getting our luggage we sourced a taxi to get us to Kowloon where our hotel was. Our rooms would not be ready until 2pm so we just had 4 hours to kill. There was a shuttle bus and we had a map, soContinue reading “Hong Kong 🇭🇰”

Ashes to Ashes, Gabba to Hong Kong…..

To see a day of Ashes test cricket, in Australia, was one of the reasons for the timing and destinations of this holiday. We both love cricket, Kevin a very competent bat back in the day! Colin and him met at school, with Colin a demon fast bowler (well he is Jamaican) So tickets wereContinue reading “Ashes to Ashes, Gabba to Hong Kong…..”

Shopping, and Rugby League

Today we went into the city to have on last amble round, Colin went off gift shopping, whilst Kevin and I browsed. Kevin, unusually bought something, a tie, whilst I bought gifts for my friend’s, Debbie, new grandsons, born the day previously. It is so strange to see the Christmas decorations around whilst walking inContinue reading “Shopping, and Rugby League”

Gold Coast

Today the Magellan Ashes were to start, but our tickets are for Saturday, so what to do? We have decided on a trip to the Gold Coast. A mere 1 1/2 hours on the train to Varsity Lakes, then 1/2 an hour on a bus to Burleigh Heads. Is this a syrup? We arrived justContinue reading “Gold Coast”
