After a whirlwind June, I thought July would provide a more sedate pace. With family birthdays, both home and away, travel with friends and family, illness, dog sitting, a second baby announcement (due December), Georgina, Craig and Brodie (Ralph has extended his stay for another day here) moving into their new home.
So not quite the easy July I had thought of, but life is like that.
We enjoyed sometime with River as it’s the summer break from school and we went to Wat Tyler park, and to Battlesbridge. It’s been a joy to spend precious time with him. He’s not only grown in stature but also in knowledge, confidence and he’s a very kind and caring little boy.
Wednesday when the moving operation began in earnest, with Joe helping Craig, we travelled to London to meet Colin and Sarah to see Cyrano de Bergerac. It wasn’t my choice of play, but Kevin is very good to see plays that may not always be to his taste with me, so I was happy to reciprocate. To my complete surprise I thoroughly enjoyed it, laughed through most of the first act, and cried with tears rolling down my cheek during the second. Adrian Lester was superb. A delicious curry beckoned at the Tamarind Kitchen.
Thursday was busy, with Pilates and looking after Brodie.
Today was full on too, and a bit traumatic when Ralph with his working cocker skills caught a pigeon. It was flapping and flying in the kitchen/lounge and Ralph managed to catch him again. I was in a meeting at the time and had to shoo him out. Suffice to say the pigeon il est mort, to quote Monty Python.
Kevin and I took Ralph for a walk this evening and I’m telling myself that our house mates of 13 months are just on holiday. In that time we’ve seen Brodie grow, learn to crawl, walk, speak his first words and his smile lights up the room. It’s probably been harder for Georgina and Craig living with us, but it’s been a privilege to share this time with them all, and we wish them happiness in their new home.
I bought a loaf of bread for nourishment, honey for sweetness and a candle for warmth, amongst other things and this evening Kevin and I are on our own for the first time in 11 years for the foreseeable. Let’s see how long we last 😂😂
