I ❤️ Southwold

On Thursday I was picked up by my cousin and a couple of friends, who had never been to Southwold.

We drove to Woodbridge first and enjoyed lunch at the Boathouse to break the journey. The coffee and choices were so good and set us up nicely, for the remainder of the journey.

We had a cute little Airbnb by the river which was easy to find and we settled in quickly with an array of drinks and snacks.

We had a walk whilst it wasn’t raining into town and bought a few essentials, and we bought pizzas from Doh, which were delicious, and demolished quickly whilst playing games.

Friday and we had a bit of a lie in, once dressed we sat and chatted in the lounge, before heading out for breakfast at Duchies, recommended by Georgina.

Another walk into town, and we ordered breakfast which was delicious. We had a wander in the town and walk along the windy seafront, walking past the beach huts, whilst the waves and spray crashed onto the footpath. We made our way to Southwold pier, and walked to the end, having a laugh in the arcades, and dipping into the shops. After that an ice cream was the order of the day, before the walk back to the shops to buy ingredients for dinner.

We played a few more games and I made lemon posset for dessert.

After 7pm I made an easy blue cheese and broccoli pasta dish, and there was salad and garlic bread.

Dinner was eaten and washed down with various drinks and a few games of sequence before bedtime.

Saturday morning and we packed up, tidied up and made our way into town to go for breakfast. The picked kipper was our choice, as Adnams had very little vegetarian choices.

Another delicious breakfast with friendly staff, and quirky salt and pepper pots. We did a last walk to buy some treats before the journey home.

We hadn’t met up for some time and there has been a wedding, an engagement and a baby announcement, so there was lots to catch up on. We laughed, we cried ( mostly from laughing), and we also had some serious conversations too.

They loved Southwold and one of the party on the way home went to Lavenham which looks fab.

Southwold and nearby places has such a lovely vibe. I feel at peace by water, there is a tranquility to be found there, also with the wind and sea a reminder of storms, that are weathered and calmer moments return.

I can’t wait to return soon.

Also if this house came up for sale……
