Hola San Sebastián-Camino Reunion

Last year a group of women got together and did part of the Camino, and this year we arranged to meet in San Sebastián.

Originally it was to walk, but as time progressed and two more women joined the group, we wanted it to be more of a cultural, gastronomy experience.

We arrived, by plane, train and bus ( no boat), and although the weather forecast wasn’t great, we were undaunted.

As it turned out the weather was better than expected. Our Pension (Aldamar) was a great find, near to everything in the Old Town. The rooms were comfortable, and free coffee all day if we wanted.

It was great to be reunited as a whole group, and we ate very well over the three days.

Most of us took a morning dip in the sea, which was refreshing and exhilarating, we did a guided walking tour with Pintxos and drink at the end. A great deal and variety of Pintxos was consumed, and Txakoli was drunk. It’s a crisp, sparkling wine poured from a height.

There was a bit of walking soaking up the sun, exploring bars and cafes, a few shops and also a trip to La Perla, a thalassotherapy spa.

Our last evening was spent at a beautiful restaurant Zmare, where the view of the sunset was meant to be outstanding, and it was.

There was lots of chat, catching up, planning more trips, tears, laughter, with us all taking something away from the experience.

I adored San Seb, so much so I plan to return with Kevin later in the year. It has stolen my heart.
