I booked a holiday in January for Georgina, Brodie and I to Dubai for a few days. We really wanted to go back with Brodie as the last time we went Georgina was 11 weeks pregnant.
Mr Trump had other ideas though so the hotel was cancelled, and I waited for the opportunity to get our flights refunded.
So where to go? I found a few options but the Zafiro Palace Andratx was our choice. Lovely location, near a small beach, four pools and a choice of restaurants and a view over a bay and mountainous outcrops.
The flight out was an early one and we enjoyed a ‘spoons’ brekkie. Brodie slept on the flight and our transfer delivered us smoothly and we were at the pool by midday.
Brodie loves the pool, sitting by the side, walking around. He loves to watch people, and to walk everywhere.
The food was very good, and plentiful. The trucks by the pools had snack and drinks offerings.
Day 2 and 3 were much the same with sunshine although poor Brodie became unwell throughout the Saturday with a high temperature. Later that evening we called the Jet2 helpline and got advice on what we could do.
We called the hotel reception who called a doctor for a room visit. The hotel were so helpful and even delivered ice to our room.
A doctor arrived doing checks and by various means we were able to decrease his temperature, and got medication to help further.
Just before midnight they left and Brodie was feeling better, with his feet pitter pattering on the floor. Georgina and I had to laugh but we were so relieved after the last few worrying hours.
He slept well and was much better in himself the next day. The weather was not great, so we had a late leisurely breakfast, and found the indoor pool.
The rain eased in time for dinner at the Caliu steakhouse.
Our last full day had another poor weather forecast so Georgina hired a car and booked for us to visit the Aquarium in Palma. We set off in the rain but the weather improved as we drove into Palma.
Brodie enjoyed watching the fish and sea creatures, especially the sharks.
We walked further into Palma and revisited Ginger Beach, a bar Georgina and I had gone to 7 years ago when we went to Majorca together. It was as good as we remembered, and we strolled further along the promenade passing the hotel we stayed at and beyond.
Dinner at the hotel after our return car journey was fairly brief, and then we were packing for our return home.
The sun shone on our last morning, and the transfer to the airport was good. Flight was on time, although the landing was one of the bumpiest I’d ever experienced, but we were home and Brodie was excited to see his Daddy who was picking us up.
It’s great to go away, particularly to warmer, sunnier climes, but a return home is always the best. Craig did a delicious sausage, mash and onion gravy for dinner, it’s always a treat to have someone else cook.
It’s been special being away, to see Brodie explore the world, grow in confidence and how well he interacts with other children, how he wants to get involved, but is also good on his own. He is also fearless in climbing, walking and having a go at things.
I’m so proud of Georgina, she is so patient, gentle and kind with Brodie, nothing seems to phase her, she excels at being a Mum. There were regular calls to and from Daddy, with updates and photos. They both adore Brodie and he adores them in return. These few days have been a privilege I will never forget.

In other news, Ramsay had a haircut, and is looking sharp after a few busy days of appointments and River enjoyed the last few days of his Easter school holiday.
