The Circus in more ways than one!

After an excellent few days away in Norfolk with Debbie , whereby we saw seals, enjoyed the sun and sand of Brancaster, it was home on Thursday.

Friday was expected to be the hottest June day ever, and after a sweaty Pilates at 33 degrees, it was home to get ready to see Take That at the London Stadium.

After a comfortable ride to Stratford on the Elizabeth Line, we made our way to The Real Greek for a pre concert dinner. Deliciously satiated we made our way to the stadium, and our seats. We were very high up and my legs felt it by the time we reached them.

We missed Belinda Carlisle but we thoroughly enjoyed The Script. Danny O’Donoghue was immense. Running around, in the heat at 45 years old was to be commended. They really put on a show in itself.

And so the first of the evening’s circuses began.

Brilliant from start to finish. The songs, the music, the energy, never forget they are all in their fifties. the circus acts providing some jaw dropping moments, and their skills were superb-could it be magic, as it only takes a minute to fall off. We were all glowing with a shine that said it all.

We really had the greatest day!

Then we come to circus 2.

We left after Relight my fire (Zoe Birkett was awesome), to miss the crowds and stand a chance of a quick getaway.

As we got to the lower level, I asked if I could dive into the toilet, and left my bag with Nicky and Becky. Julia followed into the toilet to wash her hands.

When I came out they were nowhere to be seen, it was if they had disappeared into another dimension. I waited a little while, walked in the direction to go out, walked back and still no sign. So I thought they must’ve decide to walk on slowly for me to catch up. ( they wouldn’t have done that, so why I thought they would god only knows)

As they had my phone I couldn’t call, so I walked slower, by this time almost tearful, I took a breath, reset and thought, ok what can I do here to resolve this? (Thank you Jane for this advice last week) I spoke with a lovely lady called Lorraine and she let me use her phone to call my number-straight to voicemail, so another brainwave, use FaceTime as that will ring.

They were still all waiting outside the toilet for me. Unbeknown to me Julia had taken the wrong handbag and had to go back to her seat to retrieve it, and Nicky and Becky had gone to the toilet.

I sent a photo of where I was standing, and after sometime one of the security staff came to ask if I was alright. More phone calls, more confusion with Morrisons/M&S collection point ensued. Phone calls from home about being picked up for them to be told I was lost!

It ended up with us at two different locations and levels in Stratford, but eventually we were reunited. We left our seats at 10:15, and we were reunited at 11:45.

Footsore from traipsing around Stratford we went for a train to Colchester stopping at Shenfield. This was running late, then there was an announcement that there was a serious incident and could all passengers leave the station. My shoulders and chin dropped, but Nicky reassured me that this was in fact a drill! phew!

I messaged Kevin to pick us up, train was further delayed, and I had a chance meeting with an ex colleague I worked with in the early 2000’s. More laughter ensued about our predicament.

Poor Nicky still had a drive of 1 1/2 hours home, and we did laugh about it, but it was frustrating for her. We did laugh on the way to my house. I’m lucky to have friends that had a little patience!

Notes:

Don’t hand over my phone and bag when I need to go to the toilet

Make sure I have the others numbers written down on me!

Don’t leave the last place we were together

Be fitted with an AirTag

We could’ve been up all night and it’s something we will never forget!
